installing flex watt

Building my 1st rack and using flex watt belly heat. Wondering what the preferred method is to install tape? Is routing a space for the flex watt so it does not come in contact with the tubs the preferred method? If so how is the flex watt fastened into routed space? Thanks!!

or routing out a zig-zig pattern along one side of the surface where the tube sits on and putting heat rope or cable it that and foil tape on that to conduct the heat. Not too sure though. I don't have a rack.

I route my 4" but not my 11". Take a look in my gallery for a few pics. I use silver tacks and aluminum tape to stick my heat tape to melamine racks. I prefer belly heat, in my opinion, it's the most effective way for balls to get heat.

In my racks the tubs slide on their rims, not their bottoms. I simply staple gun the stuff on the outside transparent part that has no conductors in it. The trays are actually suspended above the tape so that there is not contact.

on a dimmer, your tape SHOULD only be running about 90-95 anyways, so if there's some contact, you're not in danger of hurting or burning or melting anything, the rubbermaids can easily handle those temps

I use sterilite containers, and they come with little bumps on each of the corners, so those hold it off of the tape about 1/4"
