Lizard needs help...maybe?

Hey all...I caught a lizard at work the other day and it turned out to be an Anole. It must have come in with material we ordered as I live in Ontario. The problem, is now its turned brown which I hear is due to high stress. It has that throat fan thing so I assume it is a male. It is by itself, has heat lights branches and vines to climb and hide in, and a lower hiding place in the cooler tempertures. It has a water bowl, and have seen it eating crickets so I have no clue what the stress would be from. Any help would be appreciated.

Also have a leopard gecko...its doing great but I heard you should keep a small dish full of the calcium powder in the setup for it...is this nessesary and will it actually eat it or no?

Your anole needs UVB lighting, for one thing. As far as the leopard gecko, yes you need to keep a small dish of calcium powder in the cage. And yes, they will absolutely lap it up when they need it. Minerall I is a good one to use.

I have 2 WC anoles from sunny FLA. My husband thought they were geckos . We don't talk about it FLA and the Carolinas are infamous for both the green and the brown anole. I have 2 brown anoles. Yes, they do change in color- and quite quickly too. Is it possible you have a brown anole?.... I think the stress might be yours, as "he" will never turn green! They are in a well planted 20gal long,(should be larger, but I don't have it at the moment... anoles occupy a good deal of space in the wild... about the size of a medium bush or 1M sq) with peat/orchid bark/sand substrate. They will rarely drink from a water bowl, instead relying on the vegetation being misted three times daily. This also keeps the humidity level up... keep thinking FLA. I do have UVB lighting (Reptisun) x 12 hrs at the moment, a "black light" to provide incandescent heat on one end of the tank, and 2 IKEA halogen spots to help even out the lighting. The anoles favorite spot is hanging upside down below the halogens. The feeders should be dusted, much like the leo's. It's a little harder to vary the anole diet... i did toss in some mealies and beetles. Hope to get a few fly larvae in there soon. Plan to try silk moths as well...

Yeah I forgot to mention I do have both a heat and UV lamp...has a "Repti Glo 5.0" bulb in it to be specific and also have a night light in a lower heat setting for night time. I took a couple pics using my web cam to show a little about his home...not the greatest but I hope you will get the just of it...

Yeah also it is a green Anole as it tends to be green 1/2 the time or more...thanks though...lol
