Picture of tanker the snapper.
Hi all
Here are some picture of Tanker my snapper.
Here he is enjoying some sun rays..
Here is a picture of him during the cold winter months with my hand on top of his shell so you can get an idea of his size..

Hey no offense, but are you sure you should be broadcasting that you have illegal animals (if you have permits, sorry for the false accusation)...Hopefully they were not wild collected... Again, please don't take this as an offense, but the penalties are very serious when dealing with protected native turtles of ontario..

Snakers55 - there are two of us here Me and Les both of us have valid fishing licenses and that means that we can both keep one snapper each..They were rescues from people who had them and they just got too big for them to properly care for them. They are used for education demonstrations that we do for schools and otehr club meetings...
marisa - They are eating everything from fish to chicks to ducklings (All dead)

I believe that all the fishing liscense does is allow you to have a snapping turtle for personal consumption. To have one in captivity for educational puroposes, you need to get a permit from the MNR.

One more thing (sorry to be the most negative one in this thread, but Im trying to help you)...Snapping turtles are known to be cannibalistic, so I would be nervous keeping 2 together, let alone a big one with a small one...Just my opinion..Again, very nice snapping turtles.

Oh,and if you are using them for educational programs, you should have no problem getting proper permits for them .

i have a few questions, bellydragger. are either of them agressive towards you? like if you need to pick it up and move it from its enclosure, does it try to attack you? how big is their enclosure? what kind of filtration system do you have? sorry to be a pain, but ive really been thinking about getting one nd i want to find out as much information as i can. thanks

actually he doesn't try to bite me when i have to pick him up. He has never shown any threat to the other turtle. As i believe i said that is their home only for the colder months when the warmer weather comes they go into a huge pond that is on our property.
Whitwolf - Glad to have you over anytime.. :-)
