Toronto Turtz

I recently took a trip to Toronto, and went to china town, and to my surprise they had to reses in a 25 gallon tank one was 11'' the other about 7'' with less than 1'' of water underneath them, they were stretched out trying to absord as much water as possible, and the female had an infected wound on one of her feet.I told the plant/exotic fish store owner what was wrong with the way he was caring for them, and told him to add more water, he refused I figured the reason he did this was so he could get the eggs, and hatch them with out a chance of them becoming spoiled from being damp. He also sold softshell, and snake neck turtle but they were in good tanks. He also sold baby reses but they were in a death pool. I called the spca, and they sent an agent there. This was the china town on gerald. I new I shouldn't have but I rescued three of the babies in the death pool, and gave them a proper home.

if they were in chinatown the owner probably didn't care because they were to be sold as food ... not pets.

those are some cutie pies! im so glad you did what you did to save these lil' guys. i recently saw two 10 inch koi at a china town resturant ( a resturant!!!) in a small aquirium, looking very sickly and crowded with no filtration or air pumps and promptly called the local humane society, they were whisked off promptly and now make thier home at our devonian gardens! they must be sooo happy now this is why i always take a peek in all small pet stores as well, i love to snitch on those ooogly shop owners who don't take proper care of thier livestock! BEWARE IM WATCHING!!!!
