Another Update on Oreo

WEll for those of you following here are some pics:

Anyway, she hasn't been eating and has been losing weight. Not from parasites or any other illness, 2 fecals were done and 3 check ups. She ate one cricket on her own a couple days ago, and last night I fed her freshly 'shed' mealies (3) and a cricket. and I plan to keep this up until she puts weight back on or she hunts continuously on her own, which ever comes first.
Anyway, I hope it keeps looking better... maybe it is the weather afterall and soon once it stays warmer she will get back to normal.. because nothing is physically wrong with her and well I am still at a loss...

So I will post some more when I get some more news or improvement.

What a precious little one.

I have only one suggestion, to help get the calcium and vitamins in her.

I have one gecko who has eating probs, and calc. deficiency. What I do, is dissolve calcium and vitamins in some water. Buy a 1mL syringe from drugstore.....use it to inject calcium into worms/crix. Gecko eats em, along with the vitamins and calc.

I don't know if that will help in your case, but, I just thought if she is not eating, then she can't be getting all the vitamins she should be.

Oh, have you tried the pureeeeeee o bug, drop on the nose, gecko lick off maneuver?

Well, we got a powder (lactocillan or something like that) from my vet for her, I am sure the problems are digestive enzymes. The cricket and mealies I gave her 2 night ago came out mushy but still the same. they weren't digested barely at all.

I had been giving her baby food with calcium and the powder but that tends to come out the same way it goes in also.
Can this non-digesting be because she is cooling? I have never cooled before so I don't know how that works. Her temps are great, she drinks, I just don't know.
What I did last night, is I fed her only one cricket, and I dusted it with the vet powder. ( I believe it is supposed to help the digestive enzymes or boost them or something)
I only fed her one, and will see how that comes out.. if it looks good, I will keep on it for a week, 1 cricekt a night and then move her up to 2 dusted with this stuff.

BIRCH- we have a syringe thing, but it only had a tube, not an actual needle.. so I don't know how I could inject them with calcium... anyway I have been mixing it with the vet stuff and dusting, and she has taken some from her calcium dish also.

as for the bug puree, well I am trying to get Kenn to let me use his coffee grinder so I can mix up some crix and mealies and silkies and feed her those.. has to be both tastier and better for her and put more weight on her than the baby food.. when I syringe feed her, she usually eats between 1 1.5 ml at a time a night... the same amount the vet tube fed her on the second visit...

I really hope this starts to get better. My vet is at a loss and said that if this powder doesnt help then our only option left is to do X-rays and see if it is an organ problem... what she CAN see (when held up tpo light etc) is good, she thinks maybe it is INSIDE an organ and that she will have to check that... *sigh* I really don't know what else to do.....

You can buy the actual syringes ( with needle ) at a drugstore ( I use Shopper's Drugmart) and get the 1CC syringe ( 1mL ). They may give you "the look" and just say you gotta inject bugs with calcium LOL. That's EXACTLY what I did, as I got a weird look when I asked for a needle and didn't know what size I needed, so I told them what it was for.

It works though. Took me a couple tries to figure out how much ( like 1/10 of a CC ) to inject. Too much kills the bug, and my guy won't eat anything that is laying still.

But if she is taking in vitamins/calc in other ways, then don't worry about it. In my case, my gecko needs more calc than she's taking in, hence the juiced up bugs.

I know it's been asked before probally, but....what are her temps?

Personally, my ill gecko is kept at 91-93F, with cooler spots, for 24hrs a day.

My only other suggestion is the Acidophiliz + . If you cannot get it there, I'd be happy to buy and ship you some if you sent me the $. Here's a good article, basically explains why I think it might help your gecko.

The article is written about bearded dragons, but it is relevant to gecko's and any other reptile as well.

As for the bugs, definately try to mash em and syringe feed her. This is going to be gross, but, I found out that silkworms, if their head is removed, you can push their insides out just by starting to squeeze the butt end up towards the head. These insides are mushy and would be great for syringe feeding. ( Same thing happens with waxworms.....I do not know about the others ).

Bich! that is what we have Lactobacillus.. that is the powder the Vet gave us. I couldn't remember the name for the life of me. but yeah I am covering her crix with that stuff so hopefully by doing it a cricket a night it will build up and start to help her out...
