Tokay Gecko

I was thinking about getting a tokay gecko. The only thing is, I was wondering do they like to be handled, or is it ok to handle them? I wouldn't really like to get a gecko that shouldn't be handled. Thanks.

Tokays do not like to be handled. they are quite agressive little guys. if you want a gecko that can be handled then go with a leopard gecko.

A tokay isn't your type of gecko if you want to handle some. They have to be one of the nastiest geckos I know. One out of 1000 will be ok to handle a little. Most will give quite some painful bites and some will die from a heart attack in your hands.

Even new born babies are like that, as soon as they emerge from the egg they are nasty geckos. But so damn cute.

Perfect if you want to have a display animal since they get quite big and have beautiful colors.

If you want a gecko that sticks to surfaces and is ok to handle, go for a crested they are around 60 to 100$ and are a good pet gecko.

Fat tail gecko 60 to 90$
leachianus 600 to 1000$
Satanic leaftail 150 to 200$
most of the others will be stressed, well I am sure there are more, but those are the ones that came to my mind.

Not sure if you really want a satanic for a first gecko, they are a more difficult specie to keep from what I have read. Also leaftail geckos are very delicate, you might not want to hold him.

A good starter gecko for handeling is:

leopards
fat tails
day geckos
helmeted geckos

Day geckoes aren't good for handling. Their skin is too delicate. I would agree that fat tails, leos and cresties are best for a beginner.

How about pictus geckos? Those are very cheap, hardy, and good for handling. Im also expecting to produce some this year. Hopefully soon.

Alright, Ive done some researching and I am either getting a crested, pictus, or flying. Most likely a crested though.

On tockays .. almost 100% of the time .. if not handled as babies .. they grow agressice but if u spend lots of time with the babies they eventually become puppy tame .. and are one of the best geckos to handle .. once tame anyway . Personally I love tockays...

Tockays are simply crazy and they have a terrible bite. But they are cute looking and they somewhat talk.
