feeding young cham

Hey i just got a little nosy be from the show, and am having some trouble getting the little guy to eat. THe plan was to cup feed, but i don't think he is large enough that his tongue could reach the bottom of my cup. Not to mention he doesn't even really realize that there is food in it. How can i entice him to feed from the cup? I have a few crix running around in there but only 2 or 3. I need to find a solution to my problem quickly. I understand he could still just be getting accustomed to his surroundings, but i still worry. Any ideas? Thanks

Geoff

Umm Most likly he is still shy but tra a more shalow dish try putting some small sticks mabey a piece of potato or carrot in there for the crix to climb on and get his attention and make sure that the dish is some where it can be seen at all times. hope that helps a bit

well.... I'm pretty sure he is eating...

i can not be 100 percent on whether the crickets are escaping from their cup or if he is eating them out of it. I am sure he has eaten atleast some, because i don't see lots of crickets jumping around in the cage, and the cup is empty. I did however allow a few crix to roam the cage when he wasn't going anywhere near the cup, and i have seen about 2 walkign around. Problem with that is now i don't know if its the same 2 i see walking around or just 2 of many. I'm gonna catch them out of there now though, that should make things a little more clear. I really hope he is actually eating, but he won't eat when i am here. I did catch him hanging over the cup once, but when he noticed i was looking he left the area. All and all, i'd say there is about a 25% chance the crix are escaping and not being eaten. Here's hoping though!

Geoff

p.s:now if i could just get him to stay off the screen roof!

no sign of poop, but little cham in a big cage, poop could be anywhere in there! I'll investigate tomorrow morning.

are you asking for pictures of my cage? my "cage" is a basking light pointed at a large pothos plant. i was going to keep her in a tank until his cage was ready, but she hated it, so i experimented with the pothos, and she calmed down right away, and has been there ever since. obviously i'm not comfortable leaving her there permanenty, but for now, it seems fine.
