opaque/metallic eye

My ball phython has an opaque eye..almost metallic though...and although it has also happened a couple times with my male over the years, I know it isn't a retained eyecap because she shed both eye caps during her last shed. Also when it has happened, which is maybe 3 times in nine years, with my male, he had also shed both eye caps in his previous shed. Has anyone every had this happen with their snakes? What is it? Right now I'm treating it as a retained eyecap, and keeping her humidity up a little more in combination with "tears" drops, just in case I misread her last shed. But like I said, it has happened with my male snake, and it was after a perfect shed. Can anyone help me?
