looks more like a retic theres no way thats a ball pythons thats for sure.

If you click on the picture it states that the python shown is from a zoo. They weren't saying that it was a ball python, they were just showing a snake to give some imagery.

The article is confusing, but as kristina said the picture is not that of the snake that was found (note where they state 1 meter long >> definitely not the length for a retid!)
While they probably should have posted a picture of a ball python, I assume that they figured that most people couldn't tell a ball python from a retic and would rather see a picture of something than of nothing.
