Weird snake dreams? Why?
Hello! Question to shoot out there for anyone who cares to respond.
Ever since I had to find new homes for my snakes becasue I was moving to HI I've had about a total of 10 dreams about them. I'm always running around trying to catch them scoop them up and put them back in their tank or some container. Once I get one and catch another, the first one gets out again. It's an endless nerve racking dream and I'm not too sure what sparks them.
What are your thoughts on it? My top guesses:
*I miss them and want them back.
*I'm not "letting them go" and entrusting them in their new homes.
*It's some weird connection to my move and new job seach.
*I may have been drinking too much that night and are therefore sparking weird dreams.
*Freud thinks it's about my mother.
Has anyone else had similar dreams? Know why?
I believe that the people who are now taking care of the snakes are all good people and are in fact taking good care of them, but I find it odd that I keep having similar themed dreams.
Open discussion...

I think you probably miss them and feel you lost something very important to you.
The drinking probably didn't help either!

I think you're just having withdrawls. You can never replace your snakes. Just enjoy the memories and maybe become involved in the pursuit of new animals that you can have in Hawaii. Good luck.

I keep having the same thing, only with rats. Either a tub falls out of the rack and a bunch get loose, or the whole rack falls over and they are loose, or there are jsut tanks sporadically placed about the basement and they keep getting loose... same thing, soon as I get some, more are escaping that I had already put back and its and endless battle. Everytime I have one, I'm afraid to go in to the basement the next day for fear that something happened and I have hundreds of loose rats in the basement Sorry I cannot be of much more help than that, I'd imagine it would just be to do with having to let them all go.

If your snakes were a HUGE part of your life then that is probably why. When you take something away that is a major part of your life, you see it every day, touch it, hold it, feed it, take care of it's well being every day it becomes a part of you in a way.
The same thing happened to me when I moved and couldn't take my dog, I would dream that I would be walking up to her, but as soon as I got so close she would run back, sit and watch me, like she was waiting for me.
Then when I gave away my birds (I had no choice they were to noisy to take with us when we move) I had a dream that I would open their cage/s to water and feed them (don't know why I opened the door, because they had the little door for their food dishes) they would fly out into the room and I wouldn't be able to catch them..........Part of that probably had to do with guilt though I still miss my little singing babies, but they went to a good home and was able to stay together.

If you love somethin' enough, you'll dream about it. Or if you think hard about somethin' before you fall asleep, you will dream about it. Thats why I think about naked women before I sleep

My professional opinion is in relation to Freud's. You obviously love your mother in more thanan emotional way, your id is out of control and your ego and superego are trying to maintain balance. Nah just messing with ya. I'm guessing it is both the fact you had to part with them and miss them and you do not fully feel they are in the best homes.

Thanks for your opinions. I do feel that they are in good homes, but my husband thinks that it's just stuck in my head that noone will care for them like I did. Which is true and isn't necessarily knocking any of the new owners down. (Lilyskip- I think you're taking great care of Pliskin aka Marla! )
