what species of tortoise is this for? I can help you out with suitable plant species for your tortoise and where to get the seeds.

I used to grow various types of grass for my Red Foots. I would just grab a scoop of this and a scoop of that as far as seeds go. I'm not sure fresh, young grass is exactly good for them, but I would occasionally offer it and of course they mowed it down like it was going out of style......

I'd be interested in your input, Chris, pertaining to G. carbonaria and G. denticulata.

once again Chicki57, what kind of chelonian is it?

Jon....weeds and flowers are a superior choice for those two species. They have a hard time breaking down grasses. Carbonaria should have more plant matter than denticulata.

Suitable plants you can grow or find in your backyard for red and yellowfoots include dandelion, plantains, mallows, sowthistle, clovers, grape leaves, mulberry leaves, raspberry or blackberry leaves, chickweed, vetches, milk thistle, curly cress, nettles(not stinging nettle), trefoils...that's all I can think of for now but there are plenty more lol

Grasses should be used for grazing tortoises such as leopards and sulcatas.

You can find a ton of different seeds at www.richters.com
