Have a Question about Windsor, Canada
Hi Everyone,
I am going to be in Detroit, Michigan for work on the 12 and 13 of January.
Is there any good reptile shows or pet stores in Windsor, Canada?
Thanks
Tom McCarthy

There is a decent pet store in neighbouring Tecumseh called GreenEarth Exotics. They are a little expensive but it's not all that bad. 12218 Tecumseh Rd east. Might be worth your while to have a look. Exotic pets are banned in Windsor so the hobby is underground there. The pet stores in Windsor only sell supplies but the ban doesn't include Tecumsek so everyone buys their herps there.

That's crazy, I pretty much grew up in Windsor and the aurrounding area. Are there bans anywhere else around there? Harrow, Amhestburg, Essex etc.?

I live in Tecumseh. Its very true. Soon as you cross that line into Windsor, you cannot own a frog! VERY illegal. Your animal WILL be confiscated if you are caught.
I'm not sure about the townships you mentioned, but since the bordering towns of Tecumseh and Lasalle don't have the reptile ban, I assume they don't either.
Herps have been banned for a very long time, so reptiles are largely unknown around here, there just wasn't the demand before for stores to carry supplies or books.
That is changing! The Windsor Petsmart has a very large herp aisle. Though they can't sell herps...

Oh, I forgot!
I was told that about 2-3 years ago, some local vets, city councillors and a ton of demonstrators all lobbied to have the ban lifted.
They failed. *sigh*

I still can't believe it. I bought some baby iguanas in Windsor when I was really young. They both died, they were really sick. This was about 10 - 15 years ago. I didn't even know! LOL. My husband and I have talked about moving back there because my family lives there and the houses are so cheap. I certainly won't be living in the city! LOL! Thanx for the info.

I actually live in Kingsville nearby and there are more restrictions on dogs and cats than on herps and exotics. Windsor went all nazi on exotics. I lived there for quite awhile. I still kept herps (just geckos) but it was insane how they just totally banned animals that they know nothing about. Just a ban that covered everything. As stated by Dragoon, the city lawmakers didn't even want to know about it they just shoved the legislation through. So much for the democratic process, fascism is alive and well wt the municipal level.
