You guys have to help me!!
My cousin has a male and female in a cage. The male ripped off the hand and 1/2 of the female's tail. My cousin insists that they are calm now, but I need to convince him, or the giant male will get a huge meal soon!! Please help me with what to do for the beardie and how to convince my cousin. The kid is only 15, he doesn't know that much. Please and thank you!

15??? I had a JOB and RESPONSIBILITES when I was 15, that's NO excuse! You make 15 sound like he's a baby, he SHOULD know by now what's right and wrong!
I would suggest taking matters into your own hands and seperate them immedietly! How big of a size difference is there? If it's more than 2/3 the size of the male, they shouldn't be in the same cage anyway. Also, there is a possiblity that the female is actually a male. In any case, they need to be seperated NOW! I don't care what you have to do, beat some sense into him!
As for the female, she needs to see a vet ASAP and you need to clean the wounds with hydrogen peroxide and wrap the tail and leg in paper towels with some peroxide on them so they do not get drug through anything.
Keep us updated, I hope the female is OK!

Yea. This kid doesn't live near me:about an 8-hour drive. The female is about 1/3 the size. I know that some of the people on this site are 15 or younger, but trust me, this kid is immature for his age. He got the beardies for cleaning his room! I know kids that were seven when they got lizards and were more responsible. Anyway, The cage is pretty big, but that doesn't make a difference. I don't know everything about beardies, but he said that the male just went through a biting stage. Could this be possible? I saw them laying together the last time I went over there, but I don't think devouring a hand is just a stage! Is it?

seperate them, now. Tell him he is murdering his animals, and that if he actually cares for these animals he will seperate them. Also 15 is not to young to start a rap sheet. Tell him if he does not own up to his responsiblilities of the reptiles (keeping them in proper seperate enclosures, with proper heat, humidity, light *if needed*, food, and any vet visits or supplements that may be needed), that you can and will call the cops, and not only will he get in trouble, but his parents will be the main ones to get huge fines for animal cruelty, because he is a minor.
If he calls your bluff, then go ahead and do it. Call the cops or humane society on him.
Sorry if that sounded ruff.
But come on, even someone who just got their beardies would have more common sence that if one bit the other one's leg off they would seperate them ASAP.
