Bed-a-beast question?

I've heard of this stuff, never seen it in use though.

Does anyone have a pic of it in use?

Is it easy to scoop poop from?
How about smell, does it absorb smell?

What kind of texture does it have? Is it digable?

Blah blah blah.

Thanks fer yer time

It looks like dirt, it's made of crushed coconut. It's easy to scoop from but I don't know how much smell it absorbs (not that it should matter if you're cleaning as needed :P). It feels like dirt, it will cause impaction if the animal eats a whole bunch of it but for the most part, it's easy on the digestive tract.

I have used this type of bedding extensively and i love it! In my planted vivaria I mix it 1:1 with a quality planting mix. It holds moisture very well and doesn't smell. (You still need to spot-clean) I haven't had anay impaction problems.

Any substrate will cause impaction if ingested in large amounts. Eco-earth/bedabeast is in my opinion the safest, and most versatile substrate on the market. I use it as the base for all of the planting mixes in my frog vivaria, and I even use it dry with some of my reptiles. I have nothing bad to say about coco-husk fiber, and I do not forsee anything that would work better than it does.

One word of advice:
Buy it from your local greenhouse or hydroponic supplier. Its exactly the same product at 1/4-1/3 the price of the pet store.

Good advice... but if you do go to a garden center to get it MAKE SURE that it has not been treated to kill/repel insects!!!

I find this to be the case for just about anything. I buy my sphagnum moss from garden centres, and the price difference is absolutely staggering. (30 bucks for a 3 foot tall garbage-bag sized bag of moss vs. 40 bucks for a little brick of it in the pet store... just no comparison.)
