Smile Blue tongue or Bearded?

Hi everyone! I just wanted to get some opinions.

Well, I got my 1.4 group of AFTs at the November show and now I am planning to obtain one more kind of lizard this Spring. I have yet to decide whether I have the intention or not to breed the new additions. If I was to breed, I was leaning towards blue tongue skinks as the market is not saturated with them in Canada.
However, focussing on the "pet aspect" of keeping both the blue tongues and beardies, which would you say is the better pet and why?

Although I have never KEPT lizards, working with them at the pet store, I found it was more of a joy, for me personally, to take care of and handle the Blue Tongue Skink. However, I think it's all a matter of personal opinion.

I prefer the BTS over the beardeds myself, but still comes down to personal interest on your part. Personally I only work with animals I like, not what may sell better or not. I think that ensures that your interest surpasses your 'monitary' needs, which to me makes it a bit more pleasing to work with herps. Many folks work with the basic, designer herps. No problem there. But heck, if you really like something more than what is common, more power to ya! Diversity and variety is what helps pass information and interest to herpetoculture and other folks involved in it.

I have a pair of beardies that i absoultly love and would never in a million years think of giving them up. I just love them so much!!! On the other hand i want to get a BTS. Either way you go i think you will be happy.

Look at caresheets for both animals and compair the differences of housing and food, exc. Then see which animal you would prefer or which one you could better take care of and go from there.

I haven't kept either. I personally prefer BTS. I was thinking about getting one eventually. Good luck on whichever you choose.

Definetely the blue tongued skink. Easier to care for, easier to feed, and not owned by every person you talk to...lol. Not to mention they are cute, curious, bold, and friendly. I love mine, and will never be without one.

I'd go with the blue tongue too. I haven't kept beardies, but all the ones I meet couldn't carry my BTS's lunch when it comes to personality and interaction. As a bonus, a BTS will live twice as long as a beardie.

Thank you to everyone for all of the great points! Though beardies are great lizards, I think I will be going with the blue tongues.

Thanks again,

-Adam

I have both, you can't go wrong with either species as far as pets
go, never tried breeding but I believe the beardies are easier.
