Question for cricket breeders

I have been breeding crickets for a while now and have had no problems except in one area. I can not find a suitable watering set up for the pinheads. I have tried many different ways including shallow dishes full of water with cotton, and cotton on a dish just damp. I find that I either have crickets that drown or crickets that do not get enough water and dehydrate. I also have problems with the crickets being able to enter the water as they can not climb very high at all. I was just curious to see what others use and if anybody knows how commercial breeders do it?

I was hopin to keep them on no substrate as it is easier to get them out in quantity.

I bought lettuce for them and tore of 2-3 leaves off every day. Buy a big bag of cheap carrots and toss 1 or 2 of those in as well. No water, no gel, none of that stuff. Once the lettuce and carrots are toast, shake them off take them out and replace them.

We use pieces of sliced potato, and a chip lid for water. A 6 pack section of egg carton, and a paper towel over the egg carton for a hide. (might try a wet piece of paper towel in the chip lid, we find our crickets love to chew on the dry paper we put over the egg carton.) We tried orange pieces, carrot slices, and lettuce... but the thin pieces of potato seem to work the best. They like apple slices too... Best of luck! The Doc and Jan
