how long in between sheds?
How long in between sheds normally go by? recently my little one was bite and has been healing Wonderfully since but hasn't began to shed just wondering if the shed would take longer to start than normal because the fact that she was bitten (went to the vet ASAP got injections and etc) and is healing? she is about 24 inches. I am just worried about her. She is active as hel when taken out of cage. presently fixing a 30L up for her and wouldn't mind suggestions on anything/everything for the new tank.

Welcome to the site Tannimbp!! First i would try to get her on pre killed or frozen thawed asap! its better for the snake most importantly and easier for the owner.(I think anyway) Sheds, it usually depends on the groth rate of the snake. ie my youngest bp suzy is now 2 weeks shy of a year and is approx 3.5ft @ 1300g.or almost 3lbs For a bp i think she has grown quickly. So with that in mind, she has been sheding regularly every 4-6 weeks, but with age and slower growth rate the time between sheds will slowly increase. To my knowledge, it should't have an effect on the length of time between sheds. She'll be just fine. Wish ya all the best, hope she heals quick. Oh almost forgot, i love rubbermaid tubs, easy to clean and cheap!! Hope the info helps ya out. If not, theirs many people here with alot more knowledge than i.

As said above F/T is much better for you and your snake,takes away all the risk of bites and infection. All of mine are on F/T except for one little rescue of ours, If you have to feed live just a suggestion i use a pair of hemostats to grip the mouse by the head and pin it to the floor of the tank to ensure that my little girl will not sustane any bites, It's a nasty job but she's worth it. It minimizes the risk to the snake, once the mouse has stopped struggling i then let go and let her do her thing just remember if your feeding live prey do your best to minimize all the risks as best you can hope this friendly advice helps a bit have a Great Halloween

I WAS feeding her live but have now switched to F/T. also trying to figure out what I should feed her. How can I tell when to switch her over to rats from mice? She was bitten because a live mouse was "caught" wrong by her so that when she was squeezing it was able to say "ahhh" and when she tightened it tore open somewhat. she went to the vet ASAP. Funny thing is is that right after she fed on it she was still looking for more lunch *G* ( friend had an extra feeder so that is what I was feeding her)

You can switch her to rats anytime, just get the right size meal for her.

I am glad to hear that you made the switch to F/T.
Shedding should occur once every 3-6 weeks at that age.
Small adult rats are a good meal for a 2 foot ball.

My hathclings shed every 2-3 weeks, and my adults range from once a month, to once every three months. Different for every snake.

I would say the best size to feed, would be a pray item the same size or slightly larger than the fattest point of the snake.

Thanks for the info everyone I was just a little worried about getting something too big for her BUT she suprised me once again I got her a F/T small adult rat and after striking it and spraying some of the intestines swallowed it straight down in under 30 minutes. And now can barely even tell that she ate.

Good to here.
My 03 Ball Python is now about 2ft long and she is eating 1 monster mouse a week. I need to get her over to rats ASAP. But what size??? Weiners seem to big and pups are way to small.

Alex, I can assure you, ball pythons can swallow amazingly huge meals if they have to. Try a small adult rat.
