How many coats?
How many coats of Polyurethane so I put on the interior of the cage? I already have three coats I was thinking two more would be fine. What do you think?

Depends on what's going in the cage. Some cages I put 1 coat, some I put 4 coats. It all depends. It all depends. It all depends.

For my old Ball Python cages, I just used one coat. Make sure to paint both sides of the wood. If not, the wood warps. Even plywood.

jeff is right about the painting both sides. plywood warps anyway but painting it seems to help . unless you get good stuff like birch which, around here anyways, is 43 bucks a sheet.

I built the cage for a Blood Python she's a little over four foot and weighs about 16lbs. So far I've put three coats on the inside of the cage and one on the outside.

Well it will be a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft for a BP..........so one coat, both side and in any holes we drill (instead of buying vents just going to drill holes and sand them down.) Can't wait to get started, have to wait for a day off though

That is a HUGE cage for a Ball. 2 feet high is entirely overkill. But hey, its your space.

ya I thought so to, but he uses all of his space....so we figured why not. And thats the size we bought the wood, and it lets us have a large viewing area, he is a big bp, out grown his 40 gal, so he's in there until we can get this done....
When we get his cage done he is going to get........all new! (Lol) hide's (out grown the largest half logs) climbing sticks, and water bowl! (largest of the greyish heavy plastic ones.)......and some foliage and things like that.......lol....... oh and a new bigger heating pad.....
Him and the other 2 snakes (plus the next snake we get) will be "display" animals, anything else we get after that will go into a rubbermaid, or a rack system.....

My male has only fell when I had him in a wooden cage ( like a wooden jewelry display case) and there was a lip, he was bigger than the lip but he wanted to climb on it. We got him outta there quick. Otherwise they are both very good at getting down from their climbing sticks.
