Dwarf Burms?

I saw an ad the other day on ************** for what was being advertised as Dwarf Burmese Pythons.....the ad said the females max out around 7 feet and males 5-6 feet.......just wondering how substantiated this thing is because I think dwarf albino burms would be cool as hell!

I saw the ad myself. This is the first time I had ever heard of dwarf burms though.

Dwarfism can happen in any species through selective breeding. Almost every litter will have a "runt", and it's a matter of breeding for that trait. I wouldn't mind a dwarfed burm. All the perks, but cheaper meals.

I saw that ad, too. Dwarf burms would be awesome to have. I love burms, but I do not like their size (females, anyway).

I have never heard of a dwarf burm. And the size they would get does not sound right. Even Dwarf Retic's get bigger then 5-7 feet.

I saw the ad myself too, but its probably true they look dwarf to me but now with computers you can make stuff looke twice as small or three times as small so im still unsure but it would be awsome if they were dwarf burms

I had first hand knowlege(and seen) a Burmese python that was 14"inches long at a year old. It was a runt from last yrs clutch. The snake had to be pinkie pumped for every meal. It was unable to survive without human assistance...I origionally thought, as did my friend(owner), that it could have had dwarfism, but after some thought it was decided that it didn't fit the parameters of the condition(dwarfism).Belive me it would have been an interesting project to raise dwarf burms. There has never been, to my research, a dwarf burmese python.

ps..the little guy died 1 month ago due to complications related to it's condition.....digestive problems,undeveloped organs..

First off invictus not to attack you or anything but supposedly these aren't bred to be dwarf from "runts" of previous clutches. This supposed to be NATRUAL dwarfism,much like the dwarf retics.

I honestly do not know if it is true or not. It still has to be proven out but I think if it DOES prove out the burm market will come back. The price is quite high...I believe it is something close to 10,000 or 20,000 grand for an adult pair of these.

the only problem is, you will find out only when they will be adult.. its a risk to take..

yea i like burms for there size. one thing i would consider though is do they have any health probs being dwarfs like with eating or anything else for that matter. and also u never know u may get a dwarf and end up with a big suprize never know lol

Burms are simply amazing pets. Like a big puppy only HUGE!

When I'm older and breed snakes. I am going to try and acquire s small unrelated pair of burms and see what happens. I wouldnt label them as "dwarfs" until about 4 breedings of small babies.

In the ad I last saw, the breeder said that they are WC adults. This shows that it is an unproven trait.

I have seen wild retics that seemed "small" for their estimated age. Remember, wild animals are not afforded the same feeding opportunities as their captive counterparts. These "dwarf" burmese may produce full size animals. I would want a written money back guarantee before I put out $10,000 for an unproven dwarf burmese
