I don't recommend the use of any loose substrate with leos......if that stuff expands in water, think about it'll do if ingested. Plus that stuff holds way too much humidity and can mold easily leading to all sorts of problems. Paper towels all the way for me. Safety is more important than aeisthetics.

i used the compressed bricks for my other terrarium with my golden gecko and marbled gecko. It's great stuff, looks very nice and it's good for things that need to hold moisture, so i could spray the actual substrate and get a nice humid enviornment. ONly troubles i had were: 1 crickets could **** their way under things and hide, as coudl mealworms should one happen to escape. If you just so happen to miss a random dung pile, it would grow fungus pretty quick (tho this had a lot to do with the high moisture in the tank) Otherwise, it's nice stuff!

Yeah it is great stuff.
Neo, i got that tile stuff from a green house. It's actually called flag stone. Its $0.19 a pound. Just don't buy it at pet stores because you'll be paying close to a dollar per pound. I used culking stuff to hold it together.
Thanks for all the nice comments

I think the brick expandable stuff is fine for leo's. I agree. Once it has expanded, it won't anymore. And it won't create a humid environment if u dry it out and don't wet it again. And it's a lot safer alternative than sand. I think it looks great! In fact, I think it is the safest thing to use if u don't want to use paper towels.
