green basilisk.....

hey all,

well i own the devil. 2 years ago my mother purchased a green basilsik for my brother (how i regret that) and than it got dumped into my hands. it had bitten me a number of times and with a couple i should have went and gotten stitch's. This thing is a demon and i have tried handling it every day and when i take it out with either bites the crap out of my hand or itjumps off my arms and gets loose in the house. ya all i can say is that we spoil him. he lives in a 6 foot long x 3 feet high x 2 feet deep enclosure that has plants sticks and well it looks like how it looked in costa rica where they live. like hes extremely beutiful but he is driving me crazy.

well i am just wondering if anyone has had such a bad experience with this same type of reptile.

How big is the baskilisk

I dont know alot about agamids Im more into monitors but sometimes if a cage is too big the animal is stressed and territorial maybe you should try a smaller enclosure thats what I had to do for a couple of my monitors and they calmed down alot

Um, I think you're reading the signs of stress incorrectly. Stressed monitors do not become more aggressive, or active or anything of that nature. Quite the opposite in fact. I would be interested in discussing this more with you and specifically about whatever monitor species it is that you're working with.
