I have lover herps for the best part of my life now and well that is another story.

I baught a pair of ball python's (Adults) and well I can in one night and saw a fresh shed so I did the regular up and down check on the snake but then I checked the shed somthing threw me off you see I un roled it and verafide it to ensure every thing came of correctly well the eyes are good and the tip of the tail are good but as I checked the cloaca area on the shed I see blood I tell my self "Reptile PMS dosen't seem to fit right" then it doned on me the shop owner said she caught some of the males breeding with a female a few weeks back now was it my female I am not sure 100% witch leads me to my ???? what dos this look like to you to me it looks like a couple of sperm plugs but I have never seen any up close in all my years of keeping herps. so plz give me some feed back.

It's either sperm plugs or you have been flicking dried boogers in your snake's cage. It is not unusual for sperm plugs to discharge when a snake is wiggling out of a spent skin just as they also sometimes drop poo and/or urates during this time.

I'd say sperm plugs. Now the question is, is the snake a male expelling dried leftover sperm or are they plugs left in the female? You should resex the animal and who knows with a little luck you might get some eggs!

Well that is neat, Marc. Let us know what turns out after you have it sexed.

Chondro,

that definately resembles a sperm plug, although if it came out very gooey perhaps its just a weird discharge of feces.
The sperm plugs ive seen always come out fairly textured.

ill put a link to this pic as its very graphic and may spoil someones appetite. but you can clearly see a set of seminal plugs comming out while this snake defecates.

*WARNING... GROSS...*

Hey,

Thanks for all the help. Im sure its a female because i got it sexed twice. I found the sperm plugs when she shed. She shed and then i saw there was a little bit of blood in the cloaca area so i checked it out and thats what came out. Wow, if i find some eggs a couple of months later ill give you some news. thx. the help is greatly appreciated. I spoke with the store manager where i bought the pair and he told me that they were all in breeding mode, prior to purchase.
