Mice House Cleaning

What is the best way to go about cleaning a feeder/breeding mice's bin.

Now before someone goes on a tirade about the incompetence of the male of the human species let me explain. My understanding is that if you disturb a mama and her pinkies and stress her out no more pinkies. Well I need large fuzzies or hoppers (my corn she is a growing ) but the bins are starting to look like my kids rooms. OK there not quite that bad but I should probably clean them before get in trouble for animal cruelty. Is there a trick to this or is there really any issue with cleaning the bin with young in it. I cannot get any thing except pinkies and full grown locally, go figure.

I simply remove all the old bedding using a dust pan expect the area around the nesting site. When the babies are at the large fuzzy/hopper stage then I will do a full bleach bath cleaning of the tanks..hope this helps

Unless you stress the mother very very very much, she should still produce pinkies. How about putting newspaper down, and when cleaning time comes, just lift up the news paper with the pinkies on it, and put them back after your done cleaning.
OR, I guess you could just clean around the pinkies but you wouldn't be able to disinfect.

The whole not being able to disturb the nest is an old wives tale. You can handle pinkies the day they are born, this will not cause any members of the colony to eat them or stop producing them. No special needs, just clean them the same way you would if they weren't there. Remove all live animals, and go about your regular routine cleaning
