This little guy always come up to my house at around 1-2 AM and munches on cat food. he is getting tamer every day. you can actually sit down set the foot about a foot away from you and he will come eat it right next to you. AND U CAN CUDDLE WITH IT! lol jk. just thought i would share my new semi-pet.

ahhh, that is so sweet!! I have a skunk that visits my neighbours garbage around that time every night. lol, I know because it is right out side my window. And I sometimes talk to it through the window, 2 stories up of course. lol.

Actually it's not a good idea for wildlife like that to get used to people. At my exotic vet, when he rescues animals he tries to keep them as scared of humans as possible so when they are released back into the wild they will stay away from human populations and such so they don't get injured or killed. It's pretty cool it comes by, but probably not too cool for it to get too accustomed and expect food from people. Just thought I'd let you know.

ya i have heard that too. accualy bird watches and stuff discoruge feeding birds because they become reliable on a food sorce. but realy there is nothing we can do about it. if we close the garage side door the raccoon cant get in but the cat cant get out. also we keep the gate closed but the raccoon just seems to find a way lol.

Rachel, yes you are right, but with racoons it's pretty much a given that they will get used to humans. First off, they live in cities (well, lots of them do). They do great in cities, it's warmer, there's lots of food, lots of places to sleep etc etc etc. If humans scare them, they won't leave, they will simply stay out of sight.
It's different with, say, bears, who live in the wild but will come closer and closer to humans if they are fed human food and such, and thus can pose a serious threat.

But yeah, super cute coon! There is a family of em around my moms place, they always walk in her place and go eat the cat food in the kitchen. Weird, but cute as heck.

if you think that cute you should see some pics my grandmother has! she fed one racoon and before she knew it she was buying 200 pounds of dog food a month!!! they would come to eat and she could accualy get some of the racoons to walk into the house and pick up the food right out of her hand! i want to get a pic so i can scan it. but she had TONS of racoons come to eat and then they would all just lay down on the back porch. but it got to be too much of a hassale and to expensive to feed them so she slowly started feeding them less and less. but it was an amazing site to see!

awww cute! My aunt lives in an old house in the country and they have a fireplace that they don't use and a racoon had her babies there and left one in there when she left. Well anyway after a few days of hearing the poor thing cry my uncle went and took it out of there and they bottle fed it with special formula for about 3 or 4 weeks then they brought him to a farm that take care of wild animals

It was sooooo cute thought! hehe They also had a geese (sp?) a while after that lol which they brought to that place also. And from what they know they are both doing fine
