vision cages

I purchased a great looking brizilion rainbow boa thats about five mounth old now. I keep him in a glass tank with the top covered a little more than half way. So far I have had no problems keeping the humidity up so it seems to be a ok method. Lately i have been looking at lager enclosures for the future. I like to show off my enclosures so I was looking for something rather than rubbermades. I was looking at vision cages and woundering how well they hold humidity and temps. I have had no experience with these cages so I was wondering if any one could give me any advice. Are vision cages any good or should I just buy a lager glass tank when I need to.

I have a vision and I love it. Keeping humidity up is a little problem though. All I had to do though is cover the vents with foil paper and added some moss. They hold temps good and they are extremely light. My tank measurements are 72x28x18 and I can pick it up with one hand.

At what % are you able to keep the humidity at after covering the vents. And what type of snake do you keep in your vision cage.

Visions aren't really an option for me since I don't live in the states, but I do know Jeff Clark houses his BRB's in them and covers most of the back vent. There is still cross-ventilation from the space in doors I am told.

I would strongly discourage you from purchasing another tank. They are absolutely unsuitable for this species, as well as most other snakes. It is impossible to maintain any cross-ventilation in a tank, but it is ok if you keep the top complelety open, as enough air can be exchanged for a healthy environment... however you cannot maintain elevated humidity levels by this. You now must block off the top, and by doing this you block off the ventilation. Stagnant air is not beneficial!! It also creates a prime environment for spores to thrive in.

I keep a bci in it. My humidity stays at 60-75 % with hardly no effort to keep it at that %. If you use a tank you could put a computer fan to help with air circulation. I use a computer fan in my vision to help push hot air to the cool side so it will stay at 80 degrees.
