Double clutch, silly snake

My female snow who laid 19 eggs on May 1st started laying another clutch a few minutes ago.

I knew this was a possibility but I didn't even notice her getting fatter. Last night she was acting like a total mainiac in her cage, so I figured something was up and added a wet hide/lay spot.

But she is in the process of laying them all over the cage. And they all are duds.

Damn snakes. You figure "hey we wont bred her again, she already gave us one clutch" and there she goes anyways! Shoulda just put her with my male now that I know this. Ah well. Hind sight sucks.

Yeah its tricky you want to feed them to get their weight back up but if you feed them just enough they go and double clutch. I think your right you should have just put her back in at leat that way you would have had a better chance at fertility.
Good luck with her,
Trevor

Country:
I can relate Marisa, I didn't want to double clutch any last year & about 8 females did anyhow, DOH! With the exception of a Ghost Corn that had obviously retained some sperm all the eggs were duds. Even the girl that had the 6 good ones laid a dozen slugs to go with them.
This year I threw the males back in with everyone, I figure if they are going to lay eggs they might as well be good ones. I've found that most problems with egg laying seem to occur with infertile eggs also, so we'll see how it goes.
I also had females that I was waiting until next year to breed drop slugs this year without ever have been with males, DOH. My Mexican Milk decided this year (her first breeding season) already to drop a 2nd bunch of slugs, the day before her first eggs hatched. On a better note my first Grayband laid 11 good ones for her 2nd clutch on Monday. So I'm 1/2 on the "double clutchers" this year. I hate slugs. I had the one corn dump 22 (no boyfriend) & another had only 5 out of 38 that were good. Those 2 striped girls alone were 55 eggs to the trash DOH!!! Dang duds!
