I was wondering if anyone knows if it is ok to put a cedar log (all the bark peeld off and cleaned) in your enclosure. I built a cage and attached these branches inside and I just read that cedar shavings are toxic. I had a boa live in it for about 7 months and no problems. I just want to make sure its ok to leave it in there beacause I m putting my burm in there soon. Do you think it is ok to leave the branch in there since it is not near the face of the snake?

Cedar, even a non shredded piece, will still put out the same toxins, smell and oils etc.

Cedar is TOXIC. Its the main ingredient in turpentine. Do not use it in any shape or form.

If you are still considering using Cedar, you might as well use rats that have been killed by rat poison for feed also. JOKING, DO NOT USE ANYTHING CEDAR. As per the boa before showing no problems, its because the toxic levels luckily never built up enough in the snake to case it any damage that you would notice. Over time long term exposure could prove fatal to your snake. Toxins build up over time in places such as the liver & kidneys & once certain levels are reached problems start arising. No reason whatsoever to run these risks when there are plenty of safe alternatives. Seriously Mark I.

Oh ok I understand. So it is similar to smoking tobacco for people, it slowly kills you!
