Bloody hell thats a cranky looking turtle !!
I dont know what sort it is but thats a big mouth and its ready to bite!! I think I will stick to my snakes.

That's a snapping turtle. So named for obvious reasons.

I must have seen 20 dead ones the last few days as well as painted turtles. THe worst part is mostly females looking for egg laying sites.

awesome "little" guys arent they?? LOL i always see a good 30 of them at the herp shows. And the worst thing is people buy them an i dont think they know how big they will actually get.

I have some pics of some radiotelemtry work I did with snapper in the Rouge Valley near Toronto. I'll try to scan em and post em.
Try pinning on of those things down while drilling a small hole in the carapace to attach a telemetry unit........they are SOOOO strong!!!
