Turtles

As always at the local conservation area, there were turtles basking in a quiet end of the lake on some floating logs. Sometimes there are like 30 here, this day there was only like 10. One huge one though!

I haven't seen any snakes out of the four times I have gone this past week but normally I see garters only anyways.

What kind of turtles are they? Gotta love turtles! That one is HUGE! I gotta get a camera and take some pics at a local golf course. There is a ton of Western Painted turtles in the water hazards.

I wish I could tell you what kind they are but they live mostly in a place that makes getting close to them hard. To come around and get near enough to actually see detail you have to come down a hill to the waters edge...its a little cove, anyways by the time you even start going down the hill they almost all jump off into the water.

the turtles look like they are having fun.
That Ontario flower looks real healthy, almost jumped off the screen.

Those would be Midland Painted Turtles (Chrysemys picta marginata). Nice photograph of the Trillium.

Wish I could find such cuties by me! It's been really tough to find herps at all the past few years, and it's been blamed on the drought.

Maybe I should go out this year after all the snow we had over the winter, perhaps it will be a better season this year.
