Can anyone give me some info on Drumils Boas??

Could anyone give me some info (care temperment etc.)on durmils or a link where i can find info? I have been interested in them for a while and was wondering how they are vs. bcc's, b/c i love there pattern.

Dumerils are great,I guess you could say they are my favorite. You could check out Classic Dums site it's www.dumerils.com As far as temperment goes they are generally pretty docile babies can be a little nippy. About the only down fall I've seen they can be kinda hard to get started on feeding especially in the males. They stay in the 6 to 8 ft range. You can check out my pair in photo gallery. LOL, they get a lot bigger than that! Check out this one we took a pic of at the Louisville Zoo. She was HUGE!



That is Morti sitting next to her. She had to be a good 10 feet at least and very heavy bodied. Many people think Dum's do not get as big as bci. They have the potential to be bigger. They are very beautiful and somewhat shy snakes. They are on my wishlist. I am not trying to discourage anyone from getting one, I just want them to know of their potential size.

Okay I stand corrected they can reach 9 and 10 foot but it is rare. They usely stay in the 6 to 8 ft range. There's not many care sheets around on them. I've got to go to Louisville zoo now. LdyDrgn do they have many snakes down there at the zoo?

They had a fairly decent collection. I really really wanted to get pics of the croc monitor (gigantic!) and the Komodo dragon. The croc monitor I only managed to catch a glimpse of and the Komodo was in hiding, LOL. Check out the rest of the pics here . I was nearly out of battery power...so I visited the Herpaquarium first, LOL

What I can say about Dumerils, is that for a species that's so darn easy to get in the US, the CITES I designation is driving us Canadian boa keepers insane. The Canadian gene pool is way too shallow and the prices are way too much considdering.

The gene pool in the US isn't much better Gary. Many are line bred... it would be a boon to get just a *little* fresh blood, but it will never happen
