Corn snake seizure

Hello guys, so i have a corn snake Franklin since August last year. He should have around 5 years by now. One month ago I have noticed he was moving a bit like a robot, for couple a seconds. Short weird movements, but nothing strong I would say. He shed yesterday and after that the convulsions or spasms were a lot stronger. I fed him a mouse today and few minutes after feeding he had a something that seemed like seizure. I was feeling really sad about my poor Frank. Could you please advice me what is the reason or what sickness could that be? And is there anything I could do right now?

During mating season, corn snakes react to touch by twitching. It is possible that the snake was reacting to being in contact with objects in its cage.

The movements you describe may also be caused by mites. If your snake has mites then you should see small, black bugs on the snake. If you place cooking oil (not hot) on a cloth and wipe the snake with it then some mites should come off if the snake has any.

Snakes can also have seizures if exposed to toxic chemicals. Pesticides are the most common toxic substance that causes seizures. The only way to treat toxic exposure is to make sure that the toxic substance is no longer present. Then it will just be a matter of time in a clean environment to see if the snake improves or not.

The only other thing I can think of is that a combination of dehydration and heat can cause similar symptoms. The snake should look very thin, with wrinkly skin if it is dehydrated. You should be able to test for heat exposure by checking your current temperatures and thinking about whether your heat sources could have malfunctioned and gotten too hot.

Well the thing I have noticed is that he is not twitching until I touch him. Right now he seems totally normal and looking good, havent noticed any mites. Roaming the terarium but he is twitching a bit if I want to grab him or touching right now, I dont think that it is because he is scared or something because he was always totally fine and calm near me everytime. The only thing that makes sense is that he could be in mating season. Will keep an eye on him, thank you very much for your advices!
