Thumbs up geckonia chazaliae <-- I LOVE IT!!!

Hi,
I just bought a helmeted gecko! So d*mn cute! I'm not sure of the sex, its still really small. Its the cutest thing, tho!! It sits ontop of a little piece of bark all curled up on the warm side!
(I could go on for hours...)
I think these little guys are pretty cool. They lay eggs 10-15 days after copulation!! And I love the way it eats! It practically jumps right ontop of the crickets!

Does anyone else have helmeteds???

I'll try to get a picture up if I have a chance.

Geckonia are an adorable little gecko to work with. I've got one, and I hope to get my hands on a number of them in the future. From what I have read, yes, they do lay rather quickly after copulation... That doesn't give us keepers much leeway in regards to supplementing and "power feeding" our females lol. Gotta love a fast paced species such as this.
It's funny you mentioned how they eat, it's almost like they're little tripod guns shooting away at their prey. They turn on a dime and "fire". It's great!!
If you eventually wind up breeding your helmeteds, perhaps keep me in mind and we could swap offspring to diversify bloodlines. I hear however, that they can be rather difficult to raise from hatchlings due to tight humdity constraints at young ages... Have you heard anything regarding this??
Anyways, I must be going. I wish you luck with your new project. Have fun, though I'm sure you will.

That is SO true! Thats exactly how it eats! I love watching it.
If I figure out the sex and find a mate and start breeding, I'll try an remember to find you
I also heard they're a little difficult to start off as little guys. But mine is doin great.

Thanks Katatonic!!
