Sand boa skin help

So sand boa has a few white patches on his scales that seam to be becoming more sporadic among his body. He acts fine and I haven't noticed anything else wrong with him. I do notice he likes climb the thermostat wire and hides in the crack between the cage lid for whatever reason.

Re: Sand boa skin help

Can we see pics of the snakes and enclosure? You need to make a total of 5 posts i believe in order to post pics.

here are 3 sharable links. I hope this works.

He seams to be fine, tho he didn't eat on Monday. He doesn't appear to be having any other issues. Seams active and moving in his enclosure a lot.

Re: Sand boa skin help

It looks like your snake is about to shed and the sand is abrading the old skin in spots.

Is there a humid hide in there for your snake? They are helpful for shedding, even for sand boas.

Also, that sand appears to be very white, almost calcium sand white. If you are using calcium sand then I would recommend replacing it with washed play sand. Calcium sand has been known to cause impactions in the past, but washed play sand tends to pass through the gut better (when sand gets stuck on the prey during a meal).
