Why did my ball python die?

Hi! I One of my ball pythons just died today, I am not at my home but my mom is caring for him and she said he was having troubles shedding. He would get stuck shed often and she would help him with extra humidity or soaking in a warm shallow tub and he would get the skin off but a new layer would appear only 5 days later. My mom (who has also kept reptiles for many years) said she has never seen anything like this before. His husbandry was very good and he was well fed, none of my other ball pythons have had any trouble before. He had a few irritated spots on his scutes from where the shed was but they were being treated with beta-dine and there was no sign of an open wound or infection, and he was improving a lot, do you have any idea what this could mean or why he may have just suddenly died? He seemed otherwise healthy and I am just very confused and upset. I know it was not an issue with the conditions in which he was being kept. The whole situation with the frequency and issues with his shedding seems highly unusual to me.

Re: Why did my ball python die?

It could have nothing to do with the shedding issue. Only way to have known would be a necropsy.
