Out of practice
Glad to find the forum!
I grew up in New England wanting to be a herpetologist when I was young and spent a lot of time in the woods with my brother "snake hunting" (not to kill, obviously, just to find then catch and release). I had a few pet snakes - typical stuff like ball pythons, corn snakes, and Burmese / albino Burmese pythons - and always enjoyed learning more. I eventually found other hobbies that took over but never fully lost interest.
After moving to Texas a few years back and starting to learn about all of the new species I could possibly find in the area, my interest in snakes has been rekindled. And I'm very happy to see there are now forums and websites dedicated to learning and discussing this hobby. When I was young and interested, the internet wasn't really a thing yet, so it was a lot of reading books, time spent in the woods searching, and time spent in pet shops or local rescues.
