Re: House Snake Collection
I love the all black ones. Is that a locality or subspecies thing or are they just random in the wild?

There is a subspecies of house snake, boaedon olivaceus identified by bright orange/red eyes and undivided subcaudual scales that is frequently quite dark. There is also a black color phase of boaedon fuliginosus which is what you most commonly find in captivity. You can also find mixes of the two commonly known as hobby olives

Thank you he's a doll and people keep saying they like his pattern. I love Orange's color. I love those vivid oranges. Someone shared a photo of their blue eye Lucy cape house snake on a FB group that I found just lovely even tho it's not so vivid like I usually like.

I though that different species of house snakes couldn't interbreed? Never kept any myself, read that somewhere along the line.
Nice collection you have. I haven't run across any at the reptile shows, or I'd likely have at least one too.

Yep - true B olivaceous are very difficult to find because of the crossing producing the 'hobby' ones. I'd love a true olivaceous and am holding out should I ever come across one.
