Post Good reptile books

Can anyone recommend me some books with good information on keeping/breeding reptiles? I'm open to anything from leopard geckos, to pythons, colubrids, and more. Just need some good reading material so my teachers won't yell at me for being on my phone. Thanks

A suggestion with some practical uses. I sometimes just like to thumb through all the species, and I remember when I was maybe 12 or 13 and I copied the entire book into a few journals. I've since lost the journals but I have the book still at least. It's something I guess!

Thanks, definitely something I'll get. I live in that region so it'll be useful if I do some field herping :P

Re: Good reptile books

I too would like some recommendations on good books to read on keeping snakes. As much as I get fantastic information from this forum and other like it, there is nothing quite like settling down to reading a good book. I've got a Kindle and do enjoy using it but I still prefer the feel of a real book in my hands. I was scouting about online for recommendations of snake books for sale only yesterday. But having come across this thread, I thought I'd piggy back of it and see if anybody has any other recommendations. I a newbie here in the forum and as yet don't own any snakes, hence my wish to research and educate myself first before before doing so. So any book recommendations for rank beginners would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance for tips or advice.

I enjoyed reading this. Some great insight from a legend in the hobby.

Re: Good reptile books

Here's a few that I own that I think are worthwhile.

The Herpetoculture of Leopard Geckos used to be the bible for leos. It might be a little dated now, I'm not sure. I have it, but I haven't kept up with leos.

The Art of Keeping Snakes, is also a bit old, but it's a good introduction of natural/bioactive enclosures.

The Complete Boa Constrictor is good if you're at all interested in boas.

America's Snake: The Rise and Fall of the Timber Rattlesnake. It's not about captive snakes, but it is an interesting read on wild Timber rattlers.

Snakebit: Confessions of a Herpetologist is along the same vein. But, it focuses a bit more on the herper rather than the herps.

The Art of Keeping Snakes by Philippe de Vosjoli

The Corn Snake Manual by Kathy Love (tons of pictures in here that actually reference things useful for all manner of species.)

Corn Snakes also by Kathy Love, its just slightly updated information but not as good of pictures to reference.

Reptiles and Amphibians for Dummies by Patricia Bartlett these books are actually surprisingly informative.

The last three can be gotten online at one of those use book stores for less than 10 bucks for all of them. The first one is newer and like 10 bucks.
