Question What morph is this ball and does it have mites?

Hi guys!

I found this albino ball at a local pet store. He has a great disposition, and is very cute. However, I was concerned he may have mites. What do you all think? Are the black spots mites?

I also was curious, does this look like a pure albino? The workers said he may be a hybrid. What do you think may be his true morph?

They said he is male. I am pretty sure this is correct.

Thank you all

Albinism is a recessive gene, so it's either albino or not. That one is. "Hybrid" is a word that describes a cross between two different species. I'd say that's 100% ball python. What the store people probably meant by "hybrid" is that is may have another morph going on in addition to albinism. That's possible. I don't keep up with the BP morph craze.

Those could be mites, but no way to tell in a photo. I'd say probably not. Probably just dirt from its cage.

Ah, yes, I certainly didn't think it was a hybrid of different species... I know its a ball and that they can't breed that way. What I meant was hybrid of morph. So a combination. Like it is an albino of the gene ______. Sorry for the confusion!

As for the mites you're right. I will have to go back and see if the specks have changed or can be brushed off.
Thanks!

Ball pythons can create hybrids with a surprising amount of other snake species if the conditions are right. That being said it is definitely an albino ball python. It may have other genes involved. Personally I think you should look for a snake from a respectable breeder who would not describe their animals as "hybrids". This is especially true if you are concerned about its genetics and not just looking for a cool animal.

Yes, I agree. I will probably buy from a breeder instead. Will be healthier Thanks so much guys. Just wanted to hear some thoughts since I knew his disposition was nice.

Hmm interesting info about the breeding! I did not know that could happen. Makes sense now that you say it.
