Introducing Drogo, and asking a Question
Hey all! This is my second snake, and my first boa. S/he is a Nicaraguan boa constrictor. She stole my heart last Thursday and my wonderful boyfriend said I could get her. The LPS I got her from sold me her setup she was in as well. What I am curious of is what specific morph she may be as she is lacking a lot of red. She does have peach under her tail, but only on her tail, the rest of her underbelly is cream colored. The top of her head is this rusty color in two spots as well. The last picture is with a flash.
My question is anyone know what kind of morph she may be or if she's just a normal Nic?

Re: Introducing Drogo, and asking a Question
That sort of coloration is quite common with non-morph/wild type/normal Nics.

Cool, thanks! I was curious and am pleased no matter what with him/her. I had wanted a boa for my second snake but has been looking at Dumerils but this gal was held Thursday and stole my heart so I hadn't done a ton of research on Nics . She is super mellow and well behaved. She's awesome

Thank you! I would guess she's about 4 feet. I haven't really measured her but she's mellow and manageable for my petite frame. (I'm short you see). She's on small rats right now.

Wow, she's gorgeous. I don't know the specific genes of mine. She came/was given to the LPS as a Colombian red-tail but the LPS owner breeds boas and knew she wasn't that. He had her labeled as a Nic Red-Tail. He knew for sure she was a Nic but that was it, but her temperament is super friendly and to die for.
I know, but this is my last acquisition. My boyfriend was awesome and let me get her after I couldn't stop talking about her for like 2 days straight after she stole my heart. I did my research and figured out they don't get super big, which was part of the reason he let me get her. She makes snake number 2. Don't know how old she is either, but thats alright. She just stole my heart and thats all that really matters.

Re: Introducing Drogo, and asking a Question
S/he's absolutely beautiful, do have to say that if you don't know her lineage you can't know if she's a true Nicaraguan. Nicaraguan isn't a morph but a location, if she's mixed with anything else she isn't a nic anymore. Since you don't have documentation she is a boa imperator, nothing more nothing less. This is not a bad thing and doesn't make her any less beautiful, correct labeling is just important. You can call her Nicaraguan if you like she surely resembles one, but if you ever sell or breed her be sure to use the correct name.

True. I don't plan on selling her, and I don't plan on breeding either. I am no way prepared to handle eggs and the like. I don't know if she's 'true' or not but she definitely seems more like a Nicaraguan than other boas I've seen.
