I don't know what the situation is in Canada. Here in the states we don't have any paperwork for them (that I have ever been aware of). So many people here are breeding them now, you can find them all over the place. Cost is variable. Babies can go for $75-$100 USD and up. It depends on if you are getting a gray toned or high pink baby. Then the price continues to go up as they get bigger. I would recommend getting a gray baby. High pinks turn dirt brown where as most grays become a high contrast adult.

Their tempers are true only as neos and if you let them scare you. If you handle often and gently they tame down wonderfully. My male is one of the sweetest I own. He doesn't have a defensive bone in his body, LOL He hissed all of once after I got him home. If you let them bluff you, then they will continue to be defensive (hissing and mock striking). Then if you continue to approach they may take the behaviour further and strike for real. But then, any snake could be that way

My argentie cost $85 dollars american and she was only hissy after I got her out of the show. argentines are smart. When they want something they will defend their choice. My girl decided that she wanted to stay at the top of the plant she was sitting on, reinforcing her position with a few mock strikes and a lot of hissing. It took a meter stick a and a snake hook to get her unwrapped without getting tagged. Otherwise shes a doll.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adult Female Argentine Boa. This female produced 18 healthy young in 2002. High contrast dark brown / black and white. She has been used in many classroom presentations. A large, high contrast female argentine. I hate to sell her, but lost my I job, if I hadn't I would definetly keep her. She is currrently eating large rats on a 9 day cycle. She has not been bred this season, but has been brumated. This snake is the infamous "747" that many people have bought babies from.

Price: $400.00

I would prefer to sell this snake to someone in the S.Calif area,
weather conditions dont allow for shipping right now to the east coast. I will not ship this snake, so please dont ask.

Thank you for your interest.

any animal with cites 1 papers must have the proper documenttion. thats the whole point of having it. if ppl disregard it then there is no point in having it in the first place. these animals are endangered in the wild, so they are on cites 1 to try and protect the bloodlines, so if they do ever become extinct in the wild the captive bloodlines can then be used.
cheers

Paul, I have never seen or heard of people having these papers here in the States. You can get Argentines at every reptile show, many reptile shops and there are many more private hobbiests that breed, as well. The only snake around here that required paperwork that I know of is the Eastern Indigo. Even the Ceylonese python (p.m. molurus) is sold and shipped within the states without paperwork.

Here is why:
Appendix I lists species that are the most endangered among CITES-listed animals and plants (see Article II, paragraph 1 of the Convention). These are threatened with extinction and CITES generally prohibits commercial international trade in specimens of these species. However trade may be allowed under exceptional circumstances, e.g. for scientific research. In these cases, trade may be authorized by the granting of both an export permit (or re-export certificate) and an import permit. (See Article III of the Convention) CITES

You see, within the states, it is not considered an import or export. If an Argentine were to be sent to Canada, or anywhere else for that matter, then paperwork would be necessary.

The reason I asked about The paper work is I am being offered one with no paper work for 200.00 and I know in canada these boas are hard to come buy for that prices (at least I think so) if I'm wrong and I'm going to get in big trouble with out paper work please inform me

thanks agian for your help

That snake does not belong to dj. It is AztecFred's in San Diego, CA. Her name is 747 and has produced some beautiful babies. I haven't met her, but I have met Fred (he is AWESOME!) Also got to hold one of his Eastern Indigos... **sigh**

Snake_girl, if the snake you are buying was CBB there in Canada, then you shouldn't be in trouble. I'd say get it and enjoy it!
