What's Everyone Use To Disinfect Their Enclosures?
Just wondering what all you guys/gals use to disinfect your enclosures on cleaning day?

I used brown listerine watered down solution for years never had any issues with it kept the vivs clean and never bothered the snakes. But in the last few years I've switched to house hold antibacterial bleach free kitchen cleaner watered down solution, much cheaper and does just as good a job

I use soap and water followed by F-10 for deep cleaning. I use either of those methods for in between cleanings. Thanks for reminding me that I need to clean cages.

Re: What's Everyone Use To Disinfect Their Enclosures?
As I understand it, soap and water mostly works by removing harmful organisms and their food sources, whereas a disinfectant kills them by various processes. Removing is generally a prerequisite to disinfecting. I looked at the properties of various disinfectants and none of them are effective against all harmful organisms so I suppose the choice could depend on what you're trying to kill. For the most part, I just use soap and water for reptiles and just hot water for amphibian cages. In QT tubs, I will use bleach and water until I have obtained two negative fecals and made it past the 30+ day range. If there's any question, I will discard the tubs as a couple of bucks is not a big deal to me.

I use viv cleaner followed by hand sanitizer, the sanitizer cills 99.9 percent of germs.
It also kills mites.

I'm quite interested in bioactive. Thinking about trying it for my Gonyosoma & Spilotes enclosures. Can you elaborate on your bioactive setup and what snake(s) you keep with it?

I second the notion. I am currently switching my snakes over to bioactive vivariums. I have always kept my lizards bioactive. Id love to hear/see your setup.

Re: What's Everyone Use To Disinfect Their Enclosures?
When I traded my little JCP for an adult yesterday, he came with a 50 gal tank... He had it full of moss for moisture, but it looking like it hadn't been cleaned out in a while... He took a hose to it for me; but when I got it home, it still looked pretty bad... I took a green scratch pad with rubbing alcohol to it... Worked good... The tank is a little to small for him...
