Need help with mounting a poster inside cage

I have a wall mural I bought that is uncoated paper. I want to mount it to the back of the wooden carpet python cage Im building. What glues and sealants could I use? I worry about the paper wrinkling if I use something like a water based polyurethane.
Ive considered buying a piece of glass or plexi but the size 48 x36 makes that a bit expensive.
Anyway any ideas would be appreciated..

I wonder if I could laminate it somewhere, bet that would be expensive though.

Lamination is the best bet. Not only for mounting, but to protect the paper from humidity. Even in a mostly dry place, if a snake poos ir pees near it or on it, it will be ruined.

I would just call around to different stores and see if they can do it and how much it would cost. If you can't find anyWhere, then I would go with plan B and get glass or acrylic, whichever is cheaper.

If you aren't adamant to have THAT specific mural, you can also look at buying really nice shower curtens woth nature or beach scenes and just tack it to the back with wood staples. =)

I paid 40 bucks for the poster specifically to go in the back of the cage, I would hate to not use it. I think I will end up with the acrylic I found some for 30 dollars but this is really starting to add up.

Custom things usually aren't cheap lol. But they usually are worth it!

Thanks, Ive been putting off working on it because the garage was just so darn cold.Now the weather is warming up and I want to get this done in the next few months.Ive got all the parts just need to put them together. So far its been reasonably cheap, I got the 1/4 inch acrylic for the doors free and that would have been a big expense.

I hear ya! I will be working on a few large enclosures myself. But I am tempted to do the grout thing for the back grounds to make it look like tree trunks or rock walls or something. Not sure yet, but I got plenty of time!

I can't wait to see yours. Sounds like it's ging to look really neat with the background you have.

I thought about the grout thing but sounds messy and hard to clean so I opted for the poster. Ive seen some awesome cages done with grout.
I want the cage to come out looking nice and in my head it looks nice but things never look like what I want when Im done;p

I solved the problem. I used a regular spray pva glue to fix the poster on a piece of hardboard.I then used a spray sealer, several layers. After it dried I used the non toxic water based polyurathane to coat it again, several coats later I splashed water on it and it beaded up. It wont last forever but It will last a few good years.
