Is this prey item too big?

I thought this was a pretty cool feeding video.

Re: Is this prey item too big?

That is a big bird for that snake. However, if the snake was willing and able to eat it, I guess it wasn't "too big." I don't think I would ever feed my snakes something that big (relatively speaking), but if this was a one time thing and the snake took it willingly then I guess it's not a problem?

Also, it may look bigger than it actually is because it had its wings spread and it looks to have large tail feathers. At a local pet shop, they had a young carpet escape a couple years back. It was found in one of the bird cages a few days later and had eaten two parakeets. Now I wouldn't have thought that it would be able to take prey that size, but it did, and two no less. My belief is that the keepers' often worry about prey size much more than the snakes do. By instinct, they take what they can kill and get their mouth around.

Not too big at all, birds are bulky with feathers and have hollow bones. Not nearly as solid as a rodent of similar size.

I agree with what has been said before, and that seems to be one happy carpet.. Nice looking animal too!
