To me it looks like some type of legless lizard, but I'm not sure if this is true...

Yep, that's a glass lizard. I'm not sure on the exact species in FL, but I think Ophisaurus ventralis.

Looks like an eastern glass lizard, "Ophisaurus ventralis", but the colors seem to correspond more to the island glass lizard, "Ophisaurus compressus".
These pictures from google look similar to yours:
