Possible scale rot or overreaction?
Hey guys,
I have a female juvie jungle carpet python. She is my first snake and so far I don't think I've done too bad of a job. However for the last month or so I've noticed the scales on the top of her head and along her body have taken on a dull texture. Usually after she sheds her scales are kind of shiny, but after the last one they came out a little dullish and if looked at really closely they have a wrinkle or ripple in them. I only really notice this in the black scales because they are easier to see. Also if you've ever seen paint come off a wall, some of her scales look like that, as if some of the color has been ripped or scrubbed off. I'd show a picture but she doesn't stay still and they always come out blurry. I should probably also mention that I've kept the humidity around 60, though on the ground its closer to 70 and she never really touches the ground. I've turned it way down so its probably around 30-40 right now, but she typically stays on the cool side all day and night. Any ideas?
