agressive male retic

I have a question about male retic aggressiveness, I've heard from keepers that the majority of bad bites they've gotten were from the big breeder males. If you had a male retic who was sexually mature could this also cause the same aggression or is it just the ones the sense the presence of another male? Also for your first retic would you recommend getting a female instead because of this?

Re: agressive male retic

They can become testy during the breeding season. Might be they smell a male, or a female. They might just know it's that time regardless. Or they might never act different at all. Each animal is different. But yes an adult male retic is probably one of the most dangerous non venomous species to work with if you're not experienced and careful.
