Official thread for Sekani!
I've been so caught up lately worrying over my GBK Scarlet Rose and getting the still unnamed MBK settled in that it never occurred to me that I have yet to start a thread for my young corn Sekani. So here it is, albeit a little overdue. Sekani has grown roughly an inch since I got him back in June and he weighs about 25 grams as of a week ago. A couple pics from today while he's waiting patiently for his meal.

Re: Official thread for Sekani!
So youve been secretly expanding your collection over there huh Scarlet? Very impressive! Beautiful corn.

Re: Official thread for Sekani!
Lol, yeah a little bit, but this one I've had for a couple months just haven't mentioned him very much. Although I'm hoping to be able to expand my collection in the next couple years. At the top of my list right now is either a ghost, snow, or normal Kenyan sand boa, ghost or high red BRB, and I'm also starting to like some of western hognose morphs. And maybe years down the road when I have the skills, experience and knowledge I might go for a Thai Bamboo rat, absolutely love the contrasting red and black on those guys.

Re: Official thread for Sekani!
Oh my gosh, he looks like such a character. I've never had a corn snake, I've been very tempted (especially when you walk by and see those cute little babies at the pet store and they're doing quirky things). I've just never taken the hook (yet).
I like the Okeetee Corn better than any high-end morph out there. I mean you can get a really nice looking individual if you're smart about it. Thanks for sharing. The picture where he was eating and had his back to you made my day, it seemed like he was trying to ignore you.

He is a lot of fun to watch, and I love it that he's not too shy about eating out in the open, I can't wait until he gets bigger and isn't as jumpy. I like a few of the morphs but I still enjoy a nice good ol' normal. My sister had an Okeetee corn years ago, that's where I found my love for the species. He/she was one gorgeous animal, got to about 6ft and had quite the personality. Gosh I miss that snake, one of these days I'll have to see if I can find a pic to share.

Re: Official thread for Sekani!
He seems like he'll be a great little boy when he gets bigger, so you'll have to keep us up-to-date on him. Little bit of a spaz, but the weird snakes are always the best
Oh you'll definitely have to show us some pictures if you manage to find them! He's got to be a beaut.

Re: Official thread for Sekani!
I managed to find some pics of my sister's corn from years ago, unfortunately I think these are the only digital pictures I have of him and they are not the greatest. That camera was old and never did justice to his colors. These are from when he was a bit younger and smaller, chilling in his favorite box. He'd stay in that box for hours (supervised of course) and just watch the going-ons of the day. He was wc when he was about 3ft if I remember correctly, right down the road from my house. For some reason he never liked my dad, always hissed and tail-rattled at him, but with anyone else even people who didn't know the first thing about snakes he was a perfect angel.

Re: Official thread for Sekani!
Sekani is now all of 28 grams woot! I think he's about 19-20 inches long right now but it's hard to get an accurate measurement on him. He's getting to the point now where he's a little bit too big for pinkies but I'm having a hard time determining if I should bump him up to fuzzies or peach fuzzies . And of course no post is worth anything without some pics, granted they are blurry (dratted phone). He's thoroughly enjoying his little nook surrounded by plants .

Re: Official thread for Sekani!
After many months I am resurrecting Sekani's thread from the ashes, like a zombie rising from the grave! The past couple months I have been so caught up with a project of mine and my job (recently got a promotion yay!) that I have, shamefully, been neglectful of my precious scaled friends. But now I'm back into it and am going to start off with an update on Sekani my wonderful orange-sicle. Photo shoot first!

Sekani is now, roughly guesstimated, at 12-14 months old and although I haven't taken an accurate weight on him yet I know he's around 55-60 grams, which is double what he weighed the last time (haven't weighed him since October). I haven't taken him out in so long now that I was quite surprised how big he's gotten. I was also pleased to find out that although I have not held him for several weeks now he is actually calmer than last time. Granted he will have to learn again that cage door opening doesn't just mean food is coming, but he was a good little gentleman nonetheless .
(Currently trying to figure out why only two pics worked.)
