Arboreal snake for Bio active terrarium Ideas
A friend of mine is looking to set up a nice bio active display tank and trying to decide what to house in it. Preverably a snake but a lizard is a possibility as well. As long as the lizard isnt something common like a crestie or garg. Were thinking something along the lines of a rough green snake or chameleion of some sort.
the enclosure hasnt been purchased yet so theres no size restriction on what the decided animal will be.
Pls give any thoughts or suggestions.

Can Asians be switched to a mice diet? I like them a lot but not sure about their diet. If it has to be all lizards?
GTP gets my vote. I have one that I keep behind me at the office. He's meaner than hell, even though he's a CBB. But I didn't get him as a "handle" snake and more of a display snake. Great conversation snake when people come in and see him.

My local reptile store has a Indonesian vine snake the previous owner switched to mice. The guy worked at a zoo. It's possible but supposed to be very hard. Personally from what I've read and heard about them, I wouldn't suggest getting one unless you have a source of lizards you can rely on. You can try switching it but prepare for the possibility they won't switch. It's hard up here finding feeder lizards as a source. I wouldn't get one otherwise it just so happens the store I go to has one already switched over and eats regularly.

^^ agreed.
The only reason I got mine is because of a constant reliable source on anoles and house geckos.

The size of the cage is very important to answering this question.

Re: Arboreal snake for Bio active terrarium Ideas
so far asian vines and rhino rats are topping the list. everything else weve found and considered has been eliminated for one reason or another. so still looking for more suggestions.

Re: Arboreal snake for Bio active terrarium Ideas
Im getting feeder house geckos for $3ea for mine
Theyre really amazing snakes. totally different from anything else I have. the only thing I'd suggest if you get some is to have a misting system.. Mine broke and will be replaced soon so for now I spray them twice a day and they chug back the watter every time I do.

Re: Arboreal snake for Bio active terrarium Ideas
Thanks for the info. It will probably be a while before I get one. But for future reference what size tank woyld they do good in? Should I keep them single or in a pair? Would a waterfall be the same as a misting feature?
