Please help!!! Im in desperate need!

HELP!!! PLEASE! IM FREAKING OUT IN DESPERATE NEED! It has been 22 hours now that my 2 year old ball python has been missing. Im freaking out! I would take my Izzy out for a few hours every day. He usually just slithers down his usual path to my closet. I checked my security camera's and found him on a box near the kitchen. He was there 30 minutes before I even noticed him missing. I thought he was sleeping in the closet like I had last checked the previous hour. No doors were open. The doors reach all the way to the floor flushed so nothing can get underneath to the out doors. On the cameras there's a 13 minute gap and he disappeared. I am unable to track him on the cameras from there. Still no activity. I tore the lining underneath my couches and I feel like I have checked everywhere. I don't know what else to do.

Way back when I had roommates, my roommates snake keep escaping. Before we figured out that he was squeezing out between the two sheets of glass. He would just keep squeezing his body through till they flexed enough to escape. The first time he did it it took us days to find him, and we looked. Turned out he made it to the closet on another floor and hid in a boot. The next couple times finding his was easier as he always headed for the closet. After that we just called him "Houdini". Basically keep looking, he will turn up. When you say the doors are flush with the floor, there is always a gap. I am always amazed at how little a gap snakes can fit through.

I tried the four... Nothing. No sign still. I've checked the cameras for any sign. Nothing. I've called a wild life rescue tech guy who catches snakes on a daily basis... I've made a trap out of glue bards and a mouse in the middle.Of course when I put the traps outside, thats when it decides to rain. I put a trap in each of my neighbors back yards and one inside my house and another in my own back yard. hopefully he comes out soon.

You don't use glue boards for snakes that you want to keep. You may hurt the snake trying to get it off the glue trap. Also as already mentioned, you should never let a snake free roam your house unsupervised.

...You've been letting him freeroam unsupervised? I'm not surprised he escaped...

As said, just keep checking. You'll find him in a tight place somewhere.

I agree the glue boards are a bad idea. They can do a lot of damage to the animal. That said, he's probably still in your house. It's only been a short time since he "escaped", and he probably hasn't been moving around much so you have a good chance of finding him if you keep searching in tight, dark spaces where he might get comfy. If you have AC you can cool your whole house down and set up a heat lamp somewhere, probably near your closet since he likes it there, to attract him. But since it's been such a short time I would just keep looking.

Stay in peace and not pieces. You really have to remain calm even though it's very difficult. The calmer you are the quicker you will find him. Get a high powered flashlight for the night searches and the darker corners. Invite friends and relatives to help out.

People please. Don't you think that I don't already know now that having him unsupervised in the closet was a bad idea? The last thing I need is you guys posting that to point that out to me. I understand that. This is the first time I have had a snake. Im a n00b when it comes to this. And quite frankly my last if I don't find him. The glue traps were recommended by a wildlife rescue tech guy that specializes in catching snakes. To let him go without harming him is just by spraying vegetable oil in a spray bottle on him. It will get the glue off so it doesn't harm him. Its been almost a week now and im at my wits end... I've held a snake searching party. my appliances are taken apart and unplugged... Ive been staying calm but im loosing hope.... I really miss him.

Like others have stated, you need to calm down. While a week may seem like a long time to you, it really isn't very long for a snake to be missing. I am fairly certain that he is still in your house and that you will simply find him usually where you least expect him to be. I strongly urge you to not use the glue traps. Keep in mind that the wildlife "rescue" tech is almost always called in to get rid of an unwanted animal. He's probably more of a pest control person and I suspect that many of his "rescues" are not rescues as much as capturing and getting rid of the invasive animal. Place some bowls of water out around the house so he does not dehydrate. Close off heating/cooling vents and other small areas where he could get lodged and stuck where you couldn't get to him. Perhaps lay some towels out on the floors perhaps with a heat mat, and most of all just keep your eyes open looking for him all the time. There was one person here who lost their Boa for 18 months before finding it. It was apparently healthy, albeit a bit thinner and no worse for the wear. Good luck and keep us posted.

Once during a move I lost my 2 foot corn snake in the car because I napped and he escaped (I was probably as upset if not more upset than you are) But I did find him 4 days later in the car! So I'm sure you can find Izzy.

Check back packs (found another lost snake in here once), cabinet, and any warm areas. Good luck!

izzysMYbaby!, we are just trying to help and no one is trying to throw you under the bus. It really is like we lost our own snake! Everyone wants you to find him also. Try thawing some mice and place them on paper towels near the walls. Maybe even a couple of live mice in a critter keeper to scent certain areas where you think he may be hiding. Don't give up until you find him. I think he is right in front of you and you just cant see him. Good luck.

Check near electronics, tv's, stereos, behind the oven, etc.. anything that gives off heat

I FOUND HIM!!!!!!!!!!! I ACTUALLY FOUND HIM!

Thank You SOOOO MUCH everyone for all your love and support to help me through that tough time! I am NEVER letting Izzy out of my sight! I found him next to the fridge in the cabinet on the bottom shelf curled up in the back! I even looked in there but it was dark the first night. When I finally checked there again there he was! I am soo grateful for everyone help and support! I could not have gotten through this and everyone reminding me to stay calm was my biggest help as silly as that sounds. Thank you Thank You THANK YOU!

P.S. The cabinet that he was in was across from his CAGE!

elkied243: I could only imagine! Thank God you found him! I personally got a bigger snake for that very reason! If he's pretty small i'd be scared I would accidentally hurt him or loose him for good!

JSmith: 18 months for a Boa? HOLY CRAP! You would think because he is bigger than a Ball he would be easier to find. I guess that just goes to show no matter how big, or how small your slithering baby is, they can still end up lost.

This just gives me more of a reason to baby him like a toddler.

I fed him a big 'ol mousey and he stayed in his bath for several hours. I can tell he got a lot bigger sitting in that dark cabinet in just those 5 days.

WHOOP! Congrats! And now that I'm an adult not livin with my mom who is terrified of bigger snakes I have finally moved on from my corn! Still not wanting to lose either of my 4' babies tho!
