Help!!!
This morning got off to a rough start. I awoke to something crashing in my kitchen/living room area and I almost shrugged it off and went back to sleep because my roommates cats rough house and occasionally knock stuff over but I went with my gut and got up to take a look. Good thing I did because one of the obese hellions had been sitting a top my new 10gallon slide and lock tank that I purchased at an expo and the mesh wire gave under her weight and she went crashing through on to my precious Mexican black king. However there was a towel separating the two because I had thrown it over the tank to give the snake some peaceful hours to adjust to her surroundings for the time being (wasn't going to keep a 3 1/2 ft snake in a 10 gal). The cat learned how to fly today and Voodoo wasn't harmed. Anyways with a little back story, does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to keep the stupid cats off the top of my snake tanks?! I can't always be around to spray them with ice cold water as much joy as I find in it. Putting the snakes in a room where I can close the door is not an option and I would love to rid of the pesky poop heads but that's not an option either as they do not belong to me. I would love to hear any ideas. Anything ! Sorry for the novel.

Re: Help!!!
This motion detecting deterrent sprays an unpleasant sprits of air to startle the cats away. May try one on each side of the top of the tank.

No prob. It just shoots out a puff of air that startles them away. Chewy.com has super speedy shipping, I usually get my orders in 2-3 business days after ordering, and they've even sent things out as late as 10pm EST.

Re: Help!!!
You could also put a metal screen top, which they make for 10 gal fish tank, over the screen lid of the critter tank. The metal tops are stronger and would hold the weight of the cat.

Re: Help!!!
As I said, just air meant to startle them. Doesn't spray liquid. At least, not to my knowledge. Also found this.

Re: Help!!!
Thank you everyone. I appreciate the feedback. The metal tops would actually work out well as would the pet safe stuff.

Re: Help!!!
I used to put duct tape on counters and tables I didnt want my cat getting onto. After 2 or 3 times getting tangled in tape it just stayed away. could work depends on how stubborn the cat is.

Re: Help!!!
One simple solution would be to build a sloped "roof" of some sort that the cat/s wouldn't be inclined to jump on. Easy enough to set on top of the cage and wouldn't interfere with air circulation. Not sure how well the standard 10 gallon screen top would work on top of a critter cage designed for the sliding screen, but a new 10 gallon tank doesn't cost a lot anyway.

Re: Help!!!
I was thinking about a sloped roof as well. I found this decoration to be helpful because it covers the entire top of the cage and the cats can't stand on it because the wires are too far apart but it was handmade by someone and I have no idea where I would find anymore of these.
